The BIG picture
London Taxis have always been built with sustainability in mind.
Their robust construction means they last far longer than conventional cars.
And it's not uncommon for London Taxis to last 500,000 miles (one million miles is not unheard of!).
Their method of construction also helps prolong their lives: bolt on, bolt off body panels mean that they are easier to repair after an accident too.
Did you know?
- Since 1994 we have reduced the Diesel Particulates emissions from our vehicles by more than 99% and NOx by more than 80%
- Tail-pipe emissions produced by TX4 (Euro 5) Automatic are on average 47% cleaner than required legal limits
- And tail-pipe emission produced by the TX4 (Euro 5) Manual are on average 67% cleaner than currrent legal requirements
The latest TX4 meets the current required Euro 5 emissions standards and is our cleanest, greenest, most efficient London Taxi to date.
The TX4 also comfortably meets the EU targets for the reduction of hazardous substances during manufacture and recyclability. To ensure that we do this in an environmentally friendly way, The London Taxi Company has partnered with Autogreen Ltd.
Autogreen, in its role as the service provider for The London Taxi Company end of life (ELV) taxis, will provide a contracted network of "take back" and "Authorised Treatment Facilities" (ATFs) throughout the United Kingdom.
This process ensures that re-use, recovery and recycling targets are met. Autogreen will take back, free of charge, any qualifying ELVs that are presented by the last owner or keeper.
